1 Maagh - Maaghi Mela - Mukatsar - Bedava

Geposted von Raman Sangha am

The "bedava words" were letters written by 40 Sikhs, including Maha Singh, to Guru Gobind Singh ji. The letters declared that the Sikhs were no longer Sikhs of the Guru and were abandoning him. The letters were written during the 1704 siege of Anandpur Sahib.
The Sikhs were tired of war and homesickness, and wanted to return to their families.
The Mughal hill chiefs were demanding that Anandpur Sahib be evacuated.
The Sikhs who wrote the letters were called the Chali Mukte, which means "40 liberated" Sikhs.
The Sikhs were later motivated to return to Guru Gobind Singh ji by Mata Bhag Kaur, a Sikh woman.
The Sikhs fought the Mughals in the Battle of Muktsar and died in the battle.
Guru Gobind Singh ji forgave the Sikhs, tore up their letters, and blessed them.
The place was later renamed Muktsar, which means "The Pool of Liberation".
